Because it only has one zero, European Roulette has a lower house edge compared to American Roulette. Outside of the zero, the wheel has thirty-six numbers, split into red and black positions. The user interface sticks to the black and gold theme present in all other Dragon Gaming titles. It also has a few minor details we like, such as the UI telling you how much of the table your bets are covering.
The start of every round of Dragon Gaming’s European Roulette starts with placing your bets. This is a single-player game, so you can take your time placing your bets as you please. You place bets by clicking or tapping on one or more positions. That will apply your current coin value to that position. Players can change their current coin value by pressing the plus and minus buttons next to the coin.
Depending on where you place your coin, it can cover one or more numbers. The more numbers a single bet covers, the greater its chances to win are. However, bigger bets also mean lower payouts. Wagers are split into outside and inside bets depending on how many positions they cover. Outside bets cover twelve numbers or more, making them the safer option to play. Inside wagers cover fewer numbers but pay more to make up for it.
After you finish placing your bets, the game proceeds to the next stage. After placing the spin button, the game will display a spinning roulette wheel. The wheel will choose one number using a random number generator. If your bet covers that number, you will win a corresponding cash prize. After that, the next round is ready to begin.
We do enjoy all the little details Dragon Gaming includes in their European Roulette release. The table coverage tracker is very useful for informing players how many positions their bets cover. Above the table coverage, we can see the last five winning numbers. After finishing a round, you are given the option to rebet the same wager. You can also turn fast spins on or off to save time.
The game also displays some basic statistics. You can access it through the dropdown menu in the top right corner of the screen. It displays how often odd or even bets win versus how often a zero is drawn. It also highlights three hot and three cold numbers. While not as extensive as other games, we still like having these statistics visible.
The exact payout you receive for winning varies depending on the type of wager you play. Outside bets and their lower risk mean their payouts are equally subdued. Red/Black, Odd/Even, and 1-18/19-36 bets all pay 1:1 when won. Meanwhile, the dozen and column bets pay 2:1 owing to the fact they cover fewer numbers. Dozen and column cover twelve numbers, while other outside bets cover eighteen numbers.
For inside bets, payouts are far more varied. Every inside bet covers a different number of positions. The fewer positions a bet covers, the better its payout will be. All available inside bets and their rewards are listed below.
Considering how many developers have their version of European Roulette, choosing to play this one can seem odd.
