Viking-themed slot games are seemingly all over the place these days. Not that we mind – as long as the game also manages to deliver something interesting or unique. Pragmatic Play’s Fury of Odin Megaways promises to do just that. Packed to the brim with exciting, volatile features, this is not a title for those that like to keep it simple.
Fury of Odin Megaways combines several familiar Pragmatic Play tropes with Megaways mechanics, implemented under licence from BTG.
The first thing to understand about this game is that it uses Megaways. You can read more about this type of online slot here. We’ll give you a quick rundown of how it works, though.
Unlike most other online slots, Megaways games like Fury of Odin do not have fixed rows or paylines. Every time you hit spin, the number of symbols on each reel changes. It’s completely random, and each reel can house between 2 and 7 symbols.
Furthermore, you don’t need to worry about matching paylines. Instead, all you need are identical symbols on at least 3 different reels, starting from the leftmost reel. The more matching symbols you hit in one such combination, the bigger your payout.
Beyond that, Fury of Odin Megaways also comes with tumbling symbols. Every symbol that’s part of a winning combination is removed from the reels, and new symbols tumble down from the top to replace them. These new symbols can then make new winning combinations, which means you can win multiple times with each spin. Tumbling symbols are always of the same size as the symbols they’re replacing.
Interestingly, the top row of symbols spins independently of all the others and is available only on reels 2-5. Consequently, reels 2-5 have a minimum of 3 symbols.
Naturally, the Fury of Odin slot comes with Wild symbols. They can replace any non-special symbol and only appear on reels 2-5.
The big gold symbol is called the FURY symbol and it does several things. First of all, it can only appear on reels 2-5. Once it hits, all symbols on the same reel below the Fury symbol are transformed into Wilds. If this happens as a result of a symbol tumble, the Fury will first move to the top row. This ensures that the whole reel is filled with Wilds.
If you don’t get any winning lines as a result of a FURY, you’ll also get a free respin. All the Wilds will remain in place for the respins, and you’ll keep getting respins until you win. Moreover, free respins increase the number of Wilds on the screen and guarantee a minimum number of ways to win.
The Mystery symbol simply transforms into the same symbol as any winning lines, thereby increasing the payout.
Lastly, you may sometimes randomly get the maximum number of symbols on all reels. This can happen after you lose a spin, but the chances are very small.
Last but not least, we have the Fury of Odin Megaways free spins. This triggers if you hit at least 4 Scatter symbols anywhere on the table, spelling out ODIN. You get 10 free spins with an additional +2 for every Scatter beyond 4.
During Free Spins, you also get a multiplier counter. It increases by 1x every time the symbols tumble, which means you get massive payouts for stringing together multiple wins in a single spin.

The only real downside with Fury of Odin we can see is that it might be “too much.” As in – too many things happening all at once. With its multitude of features, symbols, and random bits of good and bad luck – it’s definitely a lot. That’s great if you’re into that sort of thing, though.
Ultimately, though, it’s a well-made and fun game that successfully engages players. If you’re looking for something volatile and relatively complex, it’s a great little game.
