Evolution’s 2022 release schedule has been absolutely packed with innovation and fresh ideas. After releasing the highly anticipated XXXTreme Lightning Roulette and Peek Baccarat, they move on to a new type of variation on the “roulette with multipliers” formula. Gold Bar Roulette is very different from anything else we’ve seen so far, though.
The gameplay of Gold Bar Roulette by Evolution centers around collecting bars of gold. These can then be used to make Straight-up bets with multipliers in subsequent rounds. It’s a fascinating idea and completely unique in the current live dealer roulette landscape.
The shiny, polished studio and crisp graphics are the first thing you’ll notice. This level of quality is nothing new for Evolution live casino games, of course. But how does the mechanical side of things pan out? Keep reading this Gold Bar Roulette review to find out!
The base gameplay is pretty standard online roulette. You use the chips to make bets using an interactive table. Gold Bar Roulette has a twist if you decide to make Straight-Up bets on single numbers.
If you make a Straight-Up win, you’ll be awarded between 1 and 20 Gold Bars. This number is determined when the presenter opens the safe at the end of each betting period.
You can then use the Gold Bars to make fresh Straight-up bets. If this new wager wins, you’ll get an 88x multiplier instead of a standard payout. Gold Bars are stored from previous bets and can last up to 180 days. Moreover, you can make any number of these special bets every round as long as you have enough bars. You can even stack several Gold Bars on a single number, which increases the multiplier for each new bar.
Evolution Gold Bar Roulette is easily distinguished by the Gold Bar system, and it’s the game’s main feature. All of the other extras are to be expected from an Evolution-made game.
For starters, the game still functions as a full European roulette wheel. Every bet except Straight-Up bets has typical rules and payouts. You can even use the Racetrack table to the right to make Sector and Neighbors bets. You’ll also find statistics and roadmaps just above it.
The settings menu contains audio levels, video quality, and language options. Note that the languages only change the UI text, not the language the presenters are speaking.
While we’re on the topic, you can also use the chat box to communicate to dealers and other players in real-time.
Most bets in Gold Bar roulette have industry-standard payouts. These can range from 1:1 payouts on Even Money bets to 17:1 payouts on Splits and 11:1 for Street Bets
The main differences from the usual are all focused on Straight-Up bets. Instead of the usual 35:1, the Gold Bar Roulette game pays 24:1 for single-number wagers. However, these also award Gold Bars that can be used for betting, as explained above.
A Gold Bar later used for another Straight-Up bet increases its payout to 88x. You can also use as many of these on a single number as you want, with each additional bar adding another 88x. There is theoretically no limit to how much you can stack this multiplier. Instead, the Gold Bar roulette maximum payout is capped in the amount you can win in a single bet, which is €500,000.
Player interactivity seems to be a big theme for Evolution’s 2022 releases. That plays right into our personal tastes – we love it when games give more control to the player. Some would argue that’s against the spirit of the game of roulette, which is proudly luck-based. But Gold Bar roulette manages to give rounds of your favourite game a new sort of cohesion and flow.
Most bets are simply a set-up for later potential winnings. This allows for new levels of strategy in roulette and creates a great alternative to standard roulette. It seems Evolution has done it again, proving that they’re the king of the hill of live dealer gaming.
